- GoodBye '25, Hello '26
As 2025 comes to a close, we find ourselves pausing, not to celebrate noise or numbers, but to reflect on moments that mattered. This year was full. Full of training nights where legs were tired but spirits stayed up. Full of small wins that only coaches and parents noticed. Full of friendships that started quietly on court and grew into something steady. There were tournaments, camps, first goals, missed chances, and lessons learned the hard way. All of it shaped our players more than any scoreboard ever could. For many families, 2025 was a year of routine. Packing bags. Rushing from school to training. Standing at the sidelines, watching progress happen slowly. That consistency is where growth lived. Not in one big moment, but in showing up again and again. We also saw players change. Louder ones learning patience. Quieter ones finding their voice. Children who once hesitated stepping onto the court now asking when the next session is. These shifts may look small from the outside, but for us, they mean everything. As we welcome 2026, we do so with fresh energy and clear intent. Not to chase trends or rush outcomes, but to continue building a place where children feel safe to try, fail, learn, and try again. Where values stay central and competitiveness is taught with respect and purpose. To the parents who trusted us this year, thank you. Your support behind the scenes made more difference than you know. To the players, thank you for your effort, your honesty, and your joy. You are the reason we keep going. We step into 2026 ready. Same heart. Sharper focus. Plenty to look forward to.
- Mid-Year Momentum: Our BBFS Half-Time Report
2025 has been nothing short of a turning point for Big Blue Floorball School. As we reach the halfway mark of the year, it’s time to pause, reflect, and acknowledge how far we’ve come—and where we’re headed. 1. From Learn-to-Play to Competitive Development The biggest shift in our academy’s direction this year has been our evolution from a “learn-to-play” programme to a values-based, competitive training environment. While we still welcome beginners and younger children to explore floorball in a fun, nurturing space, our older categories have embraced a more competitive focus. We’ve introduced new drills, revamped our sessions, brought in structured progression, and placed a strong emphasis on discipline and effort. This change wasn’t just cosmetic—it was a deliberate step to match the hunger and potential we saw in our players. 2. BBFS Orcas & Marlins: Identity and Intensity Our U16 girls (Orcas) and U16 boys (Marlins) have continued to impress both in attitude and performance. The Orcas are pushing boundaries in training and have been growing in confidence and composure. The Marlins, now competing in the SFL Men's Conference League, are testing themselves against stronger, older opponents—and proving they belong. Both teams are now running with their own content calendars, team pages, and unique identities within the BBFS system. This has helped players take more ownership and pride in their roles. 3. The BBFS Japan Tour: A First Overseas Step In June, BBFS completed its first overseas floorball tour with a trip to Hokkaido, Japan. The experience went beyond floorball—it tested character, resilience, and adaptability. Our players trained with Japanese clubs, played friendlies, experienced local culture, and bonded as a team. More importantly, it showed our players that the game is global—and so are their opportunities. 4. Next Up: Finland with Esport Oilers We’re taking things a notch higher. BBFS is now working with Esport Oilers—the Finnish League Champions and one of the top floorball clubs in the world—for a December 2025 training tour. The camp will include training sessions, player exchanges, and even a live match viewing. The partnership is our next step in exposing our players to the highest levels of floorball and offering them an experience that few youth players ever get. We already have 7 confirmed participants and are looking for more to make this a tour to remember. 5. Adult Floorball: Structured, Serious, and Fun We’ve also introduced structured adult floorball sessions at BBFS. Alternating between Saturday 1pm and Wednesday evenings, these sessions are designed for adults who want proper training, competitive matches, and a commitment to fitness. Floorball isn’t just for kids—and our adult players are proving that week in, week out. 6. Storvretacupen Singapore & Pesta Sukan 2025 BBFS is also participating in two major local tournaments this season: Storvretacupen Singapore 2025: We’ve entered 10 teams across U10 and U12 boys and girls. Training has been intense, and the players are buzzing with excitement. Pesta Sukan 2025: Multiple BBFS teams will be competing across various age groups. It’s another chance to test ourselves and measure our progress. 7. A New Chapter in the West Moving forward, BBFS is expanding to the West. That’s right—after months of planning, we’re getting ready to bring our signature training philosophy to a brand-new venue. We’re not revealing the exact location just yet, but Westsiders… you’ll want to keep your eyes on this space. Stay tuned. It’s coming soon. Final Word Whether it’s training, tournaments, or tours—BBFS is levelling up. But while we’re getting more competitive, our values stay the same: Effort. Growth. Gratitude. And a love for the game that binds us all. We’re only halfway through the year. Let’s keep building.
- From Hokkaido to Home Turf: One Team, Two Missions
BBFS BLOG | June 2025 Over the June school holidays, BBFS took a huge step forward. For the first time ever, a group of our players travelled to Hokkaido, Japan — not for sightseeing, but for floorball. It was more than just a trip; it was a journey that tested how far we’ve come as a team and how far we’re willing to go together. The players trained, played, and soaked in what floorball culture looks like beyond Singapore. They met new opponents, tried new strategies, and picked up lessons they wouldn’t find anywhere else. More importantly, they learned what it means to wear the BBFS badge in a different country — to play with heart, humility, and hunger. And now that we’re home? The work continues. Two Big Competitions. One Clear Mindset. 1. Storvretacupen Singapore 2025 – 20 to 22 June We’ll be sending 10 BBFS teams — U10 and U12, both boys and girls — into one of the most anticipated youth tournaments this year. - Respect and Sportsmanship: The Heartbeat of BBFS
In the high-energy world of floorball, where every game is a blend of speed, skill, and strategy, there lies an undercurrent stronger than the thrill of victory or the agony of defeat. At Big Blue Floorball School (BBFS), this undercurrent is the unwavering commitment to respect and sportsmanship. Why Sportsmanship Matters Sportsmanship is more than just a part of the game; it's the very foundation upon which BBFS is built. It's about recognizing that every player, coach, referee, and opponent is part of a larger community bound by a love for floorball. But more importantly, it’s about acknowledging that this community thrives on mutual respect. Respect on the Court At BBFS, respect is demonstrated in many ways. It starts with the basics – listening attentively to coaches, valuing the input of teammates, and respecting the decisions of referees, even when they're tough to accept. But it goes deeper, into the core of our interactions. The Respectful Handshake One of our most cherished traditions is the post-match handshake. No matter the outcome of the game, BBFS players line up to shake hands with their opponents. This simple act is a powerful affirmation of mutual respect. It’s a recognition that while each team plays to win, they respect the effort and skill of their opponents just as much. Learning Through Loss Respect in sportsmanship also means learning how to lose gracefully. In every loss, there’s a lesson. BBFS coaches emphasize viewing defeats as opportunities for growth. Players are encouraged to reflect on their performance, identify areas for improvement, and acknowledge the strengths of the other team. Celebrating Victories with Humility Equally important is learning how to win with humility. Celebrations at BBFS are never about belittling the other team. They're about recognizing the collective effort that led to success. It's about sharing the joy of victory while acknowledging the challenge provided by the opposition. Sportsmanship Beyond the Court What makes BBFS unique is the understanding that the values of respect and sportsmanship extend beyond the court. They are life lessons that shape our players into well-rounded individuals. Role Models for the Younger Generation Our older players are role models for the younger ones, demonstrating how to carry themselves with dignity and respect both in victory and defeat. They mentor the younger players not just in skills, but also in how to uphold the high standards of sportsmanship that BBFS stands for. Community Engagement BBFS's commitment to sportsmanship is also evident in its engagement with the wider community. Regular events bring together players, families, and local community members, fostering a spirit of unity and mutual respect. These events are opportunities to showcase the values we teach and to reinforce the role of sports as a unifying force. A Continuous Journey At BBFS, the journey of instilling respect and sportsmanship is continuous. Through every drill, match, and interaction, these values are reinforced. We believe that by nurturing these qualities in our players, we're not just coaching them to be better at floorball; we're guiding them to be better individuals in society. As we look to the future, BBFS remains committed to being a beacon of respect and sportsmanship in the sporting world. We understand that these values are crucial for the integrity of the sport and essential for the personal growth of our players. In conclusion, at BBFS, sportsmanship and respect are not just part of the game; they are the game. They are the values that drive us, unite us, and define us, both on and off the floorball court.

- The True Spirit of the Game: A Tale of Sportsmanship in Floorball
In the realm of competitive sports, victories and defeats often grab the headlines, but it's the acts of sportsmanship that truly capture the essence of what sports are all about. Today, we share a real-life example from the world of floorball that beautifully illustrates the value of sportsmanship. A Match to Remember The event unfolded during a high-stakes floorball tournament. Two teams, known for their skill and competitive spirit, were pitted against each other in a match that promised to be both exciting and intense. Fans filled the stands, the air was thick with anticipation, and the players were ready to give their all. As the game commenced, it was clear that both teams were evenly matched. The ball moved swiftly across the court, with players showcasing remarkable skill and agility. The score was tight, and with every goal, the excitement escalated. The Moment of Truth Midway through the second half, with the score level, a player from Team A made a break. Racing down the court, he was in a prime position to score. Just then, he collided with a defender from Team B, resulting in a tumble that left both players on the ground. The crowd went silent, the tension palpable. What happened next was unexpected and heartwarming. Instead of capitalizing on the situation, a player from Team A, who was in possession of the ball, stopped playing. He extended a hand to help up the fallen opponent from Team B. The game paused for a brief moment as sportsmanship took center stage. The crowd erupted in applause, not for a goal scored, but for an act of fairness and respect that embodies the true spirit of sportsmanship. The Aftermath The game resumed, and while the final score is a mere footnote, what lingered was the act of kindness and respect demonstrated on the court. This moment became a talking point, not just for its rarity in competitive sports but for the powerful message it conveyed. Lessons in Sportsmanship Respect for Opponents: The incident highlighted the importance of respecting opponents, regardless of the competitive environment. Integrity Over Victory: It showed that integrity and fairness are more valuable than any victory. Role Models: The players became role models for young athletes, teaching them that how you play the game is as important as winning. The Ripple Effect: Such acts of sportsmanship have a ripple effect, encouraging others to act similarly and fostering a healthier, more respectful sporting environment. Conclusion Sportsmanship is the foundation upon which the integrity of sports is built. This example from floorball is a powerful reminder that, amidst fierce competition, sportsmanship can and should prevail. It's not just about playing the game; it's about how you play it – with honor, respect, and a deep sense of fair play. At the end of the day, these are the moments that define the true spirit of sports and leave a lasting impact on players, fans, and the sport itself. #BBFSValues
- Building Resilience in Floorball and Beyond: Lessons from the Court
Resilience is more than just a buzzword; it's a critical life skill, especially in the fast-paced, unpredictable world of sports like floorball. In this blog, we’ll explore what resilience means in the context of floorball, share real-life examples from the sport, and provide tips on how players can develop this invaluable trait. What is Resilience? At its core, resilience is about the ability to bounce back from setbacks, adapt to adversity, and keep moving forward. In the dynamic arena of floorball, players constantly face challenges – a missed goal, a lost game, or an unexpected injury. How they respond to these setbacks not only shapes their success on the court but also molds their character off it. Resilience in Action: Floorball Stories 1. The Comeback Game Imagine a floorball team trailing by four goals at halftime. It's easy to give in to defeat. However, a resilient team regroups, refocuses, and adapts their strategy. They return to the game with renewed vigor, slowly closing the gap, and eventually, against all odds, they secure a win. This comeback is a testament to resilience – not giving up even when the odds are stacked against you. 2. Overcoming Injuries Consider a top player sidelined by an injury. Resilience in this context is two-fold. There's the physical resilience to endure rehabilitation and the mental resilience to stay positive and focused. The journey back to the court is fraught with challenges, but it's resilience that drives a player to overcome them and return stronger. 3. Learning from Defeat Every loss is an opportunity to learn. A resilient floorball team analyzes their defeats, identifying areas for improvement. Instead of dwelling on the loss, they use it as a stepping stone to better their skills and strategies. Developing Resilience: Tips for Floorball Players Embrace Challenges: View every game, every opponent as an opportunity to learn and grow. Challenges are not roadblocks, but stepping stones. Maintain a Positive Attitude: Positivity is a key component of resilience. Believe in your ability to overcome setbacks and maintain a positive outlook. Setbacks are Lessons: Learn from every mistake and loss. Analyze what went wrong and how you can improve. Support System: Lean on your teammates, coaches, and family. A strong support system can provide encouragement and perspective when you're facing challenges. Mental and Physical Fitness: Keep yourself in top physical shape, and don't neglect mental fitness. Practices like meditation and visualization can enhance resilience. Goal Setting: Set realistic, achievable goals. These provide direction and motivation, key aspects of resilience. Conclusion Resilience is a critical skill in floorball and life. It's about how you respond to the unexpected, how you handle defeat, and how you push through barriers. By developing resilience, players not only improve their game but also equip themselves with a vital skill for life's many challenges. Remember, resilience isn't about never falling – it's about always getting back up. As we foster this quality in our players at BBFS, we encourage you to do the same in your journey, both on and off the court. #BBFSValues
- Trusting the Process: The Power of Belief in BBFS
In the world of youth floorball, where winning often takes the spotlight, BBFS has chosen a different path. They prioritize skill development, teamwork, and long-term growth over short-term victories. While this approach may raise eyebrows, it's founded on a deep belief in the system, and it's changing the game. The Core Philosophy: Trust in the System At the heart of BBFS's philosophy lies the unwavering belief in the system they've crafted. It's a system that values inclusivity, skill development, teamwork, and long-term growth. And it's a system that does not prioritize winning at all costs. Equal Opportunities to Shine: BBFS believes in giving every player, regardless of their experience or skill level, a fair chance to play and compete. This inclusivity stems from the trust that every child has untapped potential waiting to be discovered. Skill Development as the Bedrock: The academy knows that building a strong foundation is essential. They prioritize skill development, understanding that true mastery comes from honing individual abilities. It's not just about winning a game; it's about equipping players with the skills to excel throughout their lives. Teamwork and Sportsmanship: BBFS instills values that go beyond the court. They trust that teaching teamwork and sportsmanship will create well-rounded individuals who thrive in both floorball and life. Winning games is a short-term result, but building character lasts a lifetime. Long-Term Growth Over Short-Term Results: Perhaps the most crucial element of BBFS's philosophy is the focus on long-term growth. They trust that nurturing young athletes with patience and care will yield results far beyond the immediate scoreboard. It's about setting sights high and embarking on a journey of excellence. Embracing the Journey: BBFS doesn't promise instant glory, but it does offer a journey filled with passion, camaraderie, and growth. It's a journey where players and parents alike learn the power of patience, trust, and the long-term view. The Future Is Bright: While winning is not the primary aim, BBFS knows that success will follow those who believe in the process. The recent challenges have only reinforced their commitment to their philosophy. The future holds the promise of well-rounded athletes, leaders, and champions who will carry the lessons of trust in the system with them throughout their lives. In a world that often prioritizes instant gratification, BBFS's philosophy serves as a powerful reminder that trust in the process, patience, and a long-term perspective can lead to lasting success. It's not about winning at all costs; it's about nurturing talent, building character, and creating a legacy that transcends the game. BBFS's journey is a testament to the power of belief in the system, and it's a journey that inspires us all. 💙 #TrustTheProcess #BBFSPassionUnleashed
